Kate Beard is a Production Designer and Art Department member from Sheffield, currently working and residing in London.

After graduating from the University of Liverpool with a First Class Honours Bachelors degree in Architecture, Kate began work as a Part 1 Architectural Assistant at award winning Architects ShedKM. It was here that she fell in love with design even more and decided to extend the breadth of her creativity by delving into the world of film.

She then undertook a Masters degree in Production Design at the National Film and Television School. Multiple of her projects made here were released and achieved great success across the world wide festival circuits. Most notably, ‘Build Me Up’ - MPSE Golden Reel - Verna Fields Award, Visability Film Festival - Best British Film & Best Animation, Indie Lincs - Best Student Film, Discover.film - Winner, V.i.Z Film Fest 2021 - Best Short Animation & ‘When She Was Good’ - Global Shorts - Award Of Excellance Winner, Watersprite Festival - Best Editing Winner, Best Production Design Nominee New Renaissance Film Festival - Finalist, Wildsound Feedback Film Festival - Best Cinematography. Her graduating work on the TV Documentary Pilot ‘Flavours without Borders’ also nominated for Royal Television Society Award.

Since Leaving the NFTS Kate has both continued to design for short film, commercials and media production. Alongside this, she has entered the world of feature film taking on roles within the art departments of major motion pictures including: ‘Antman and The Wasp: Quantumania’ , ‘Barbie’ , ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ and ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’.

In addition to her work within the Art Department, Kate is also a co-founder of the film production company ‘Single Malt Productions’ where she, along with her team use their collective 30 years industry experience to write, produce and direct short films, animations commercials, music videos & content for social media advertising.
